NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)
“AIR WING”
NCC came into existence under the Ministry of Defence on 16 Apr 1948 through NCC act
XXXI, 1948. In 1950 Air Wing was added on April 1 with one Air squadron each at Bombay and Kolkata. NCC
Air Wing was formed in the year 1984 under the group, 5 (TN) AIR SQN (TECH) NCC having its headquarters at
Salem. It was formed with an aim of grooming tomorrow’s pilots and Air Force Officers. It focuses on team
work, punctuality, leadership qualities, discipline, sportsmanship, physical fitness, reliability and
patriotism.
It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis. The Cadets are given basic
military training in small arms and parades. NCC not only provide you an opportunity to develop character,
discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst the
youth of the country, but also NCC provide a student Cadet, a suitable environment to take up a career in
the ARMED FORCES. The officers and cadets are given preference over normal candidates during selections
based on the achievements in the corps.
In our school we have “Air Wing” branch of NCC. Students may opt NCC in
our school from Class VI onwards during the beginning of new academic session every year.
